Case Studies
Domain Consultancy and Research Support
Case Study 1: RJD consultants prepared a Through Life Management Plan (TLMP) and a series of Service Level Agreements (SLA) for a major UK MOD equipment programme. These products have been recognised as exemplars of their type.
Case Study 2: Recognised as one of the UK ‘best of breed’ ISTAR consultancies by the Future Rapid Effects System (FRES) managing systems house, RJD is a member of the select Sensors Rainbow Team. RJD supplies in depth subject matter expertise to help shape the requirements capture process.
Case Study 3: Using our deep EW subject matter expertise, a major research prime contractor commissioned RJD to conduct a detailed study of how the use of current and future data links might best enable communications EW in the Battlespace. The study has informed subsequent research and trials investment.
Case Study 4: RJD was called on to investigate how a mobile and widely dispersed MOD department could improve its efficiency. RJD quickly identified a low cost measure that could be implemented immediately to improve access to auditable record data and coordination of diaries. Other improvements using existing IT were rapidly found and implemented. The way forward was then identified within the context of the future Defence Information Infrastructure (DII).
Price to Win, Bid Support and Market Analysis
Case Study 1: A prime contractor needed a strategy to win business against strong competition in a major equipment programme. RJD provided an independent view of the key issues surrounding the requirement and developed a comprehensive Price to Win (P2W©) strategy. This was presented in a concise, easy to read document which enabled the engagement of senior management from the outset. RJD was also able to provide continuation support to sustain the advantage gained by the P2W© study, including embedded bid support. The Prime contractor won the competition and RJD’s contribution was subsequently recognised by a prestigious Chairman’s Award.
Case Study 2: A mid-sized, high technology equipment manufacturer needed to sustain and build market share, as well as shape future product development. RJD conducted a detailed survey of Defence requirements and programmes, constructed and populated an Access Database with the results and carried out a detailed analysis of the domain. The customer was able to refocus constrained resources on the most important and urgent opportunities, winning important new business.
Case Study 3: Expert witness support was provided to a city based legal firm on behalf of a client. Scrupulously detailed research, witness reports and testimony were necessary in order to support the legal action.
Case Study 4: Due Diligence support has been provided to a company involved in M&A activity.
Case Study 5: RJD provided extensive bid support to a major prime contractor on bidding and winning important EW concept studies. RJD is currently involved in supporting the delivery of these studies.
Training
Case Study 1: The £10b Defence Training Review (DTR) private finance initiative proposal phase has seen RJD provide extensive and highly detailed training analysis to one of the bidding consortia. The work included identification of where training could be rationalised and streamlined.
Case Study 2: Support has been provided in the pre and post-award phases of a multi-million pound Federated Training System programme. RJD currently has personnel supporting the delivery team by providing specialist Training Design support.
Case Study 3: RJD is a member of one of the four groups/companies selected to deliver the Waterfront Education and Training Centres to the Royal Navy. These Centres enable high quality training to be delivered to personnel at the ship’s berth rather than travelling to distant training centres or missing training altogether.
Innovative Technology
Case Study 1: RJD undertook a study to identify the potential military market for a ground breaking antenna technology. This work included identifying and winning of MOD funding to support research for military applications.
Case Study 2: RJD staged a series of successful presentations to MOD on behalf of an industry group to demonstrate the viability of Secure Wi-Fi solutions for defence use. RJD is providing support in continuation for the CESG CAPS accreditation process.
Case Study 3: RJD identified a new technology with potential application in interference cancellation. RJD was subsequently commissioned by the UK MOD to conduct a technical feasibility study.
Case Study 4: RJD facilitated the sale of an innovative communications product to the UK MOD which allows broadband, IP based communications over field telephone wire. This equipment is now in operational use.
